I believe that in any kind of communication, silence holds equal — if not greater — importance than words. Silence gives you time to think, absorb, and understand.
To me, real communication lies in the silence between words. This isn’t limited to verbal communication or writing. In everything I do, this thought process unconsciously comes into play.
For example, when I’m designing a poster, a magazine layout, or anything visual, I make sure to leave adequate space. I deliberately keep large areas blank. I don’t want to fill the entire page with text, images, or design elements. The viewer or reader needs room to breathe.
Even in photography, this philosophy of silence finds expression. I don’t just capture the main subject — I also try to include the surroundings, the empty spaces around the subject. That negative space often makes the photo more beautiful.
Silence is not an empty space.
It is the space where real communication happens.
